The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information. The Environmental, Safety, and Health (EHS) Solutions Division of the National Security Agency is seeking an ambitious and versatile environmental engineering professional for an exciting career opportunity in our headquarters office at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. You will join a team of over thirty EHS professionals who support mission operations around the world. Experience in environmental compliance, scientific sampling, design review, and program management is vital, as is the ability to work well on teams. Description of the Job This work requires knowledge of scientific principles, methods, and techniques concerned with facilities and systems to control pollution and protecting human health and the environment. You must also have an understanding of pertinent aspects of chemistry, biological sciences, and public health that pertain to the minimization of exposure to or release of pollutants. At least two years of practical experience in implementing major Federal environmental compliance programs (CAA, CWA, RCRA, and Oil Operations) is preferred. As an Environmental Engineer at NSA, responsibilities will include: - Oversight and review of the planning, design and construction of buildings - Development and implementation of sustainability driven projects

As an Engineering and Physical Science professional, you will use your skills to create the systems and tools that will be used to enhance the operation of intelligence. You will advise, administer and perform scientific projects, such as planning, designing, and constructing specialized equipment, and ensuring adherence to sound engineering and scientific standards and principles. The NSA offers multiple areas of focus for facilities engineers, including computer, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural. In addition, we are seeking skills that include computer design, microelectronics, radio frequency design, and systems engineering. Apply your science and engineering skills to protect the nation.

Salary Range: $83,692 - $112,240 (Full Performance) *The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience. Degree must be in Environmental Engineering or a related field (i.e., Chemical Engineering or Civil Engineering). Environmental Science will be considered if offered through an Engineering Department. If program is not ABET EAC accredited, it must include specified coursework.* *Specified coursework includes courses in differential and integral calculus and 5 of the following 18 areas: (a) statics or dynamics, (b) strength of materials/stress-strain relationships, (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics, (d) thermodynamics, (e) electromagnetic fields, (f) nature and properties of materials/relating particle and aggregate structure to properties, (g) solid state electronics, (h) microprocessor applications, (i), computer systems, (j) signal processing, (k) digital design, (l) systems and control theory, (m) circuits or generalized circuits, (n) communication systems, (o) power systems, (p) computer networks, (q) software development, (r) Any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, or soil mechanics. Relevant experience must be working in an environmental engineering capacity (e.g., air pollution, water quality, solid waste, or environmental health). Relevant certifications are preferred [e.g., Engineer in Training (EIT), LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)]. On-the job training, Internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 to 1800 (flexible).
