Forensic Analysts exploit captured digital media and/or investigate security incidents in order to derive useful intelligence and/or enable mitigation of network vulnerabilities.
Forensic Analysts play a vital role at NSA by performing the following tasks involving computer networks owned by the Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community agencies:
- Exploiting, fusing, and using data and data sources
- Collecting and analyzing intrusion artifacts (source code, malware, Trojans, system images) to determine mitigations for cybersecurity incidents
- Leading investigations of potential cybersecurity incidents
- Conducting post-incident analysis to determine root causes, monitor the effectiveness of mitigations, and reassess vulnerabilities to related threats
- Coordinating assessment of current infrastructure to determine if there is potential for similar incidents within the infrastructure and, when necessary, manage actions to mitigate as a preventative measure NSA is...
