Nursing shortage: A new perspective to solve this

Nursing shortage is not new. In the past, we. had experienced these shortages already. However, what differentiates the current situation is that the shortage is happening at a time when the demand is high due to the aging population and Covid-19 pandemic. There are also less enrollees to nursing to help ensure that the pipeline for healthcare workers is healthy. Previously, the organizations had made extreme efforts to sell the healthcare jobs through higher compensation, improved benefits particularly on those that help improve the employees wellness as well as expanded perks to include family members, relocation packages, referral bonuses and flexible shifts. However, as time changes, solutions may also need to evolve. Now, on top of those benefits, there must be some innovative solutions that should also be presented and taken into action. There are several recommendations stated in the report of National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to fight the shortage in the healthcare industry.
